SHAHAADAT Bhai Taaraa Singh pind Vaan

Bhai Taraa Singh jee also died -got SHAHEEDEE-
fighting for respect of KES.

Bhai Taaraa Singh was a resident of pind -panjaabi
word for village- Vaan.
HE was a very religious, softhearted Sikh.
He had constructed a Gurudwaaraa in his paillee
-panjaabi word literally meaning farmland-
which was along a road.
and served Guru Kaa Langar to the visitors.

Sikhs fighting for Their religious freedom came to his
DERAA -place where one is camping- for resting and having LANGAR.

this alone made local rulers -these rulers were mostly on mughal
side but also there were person who had sympathy with Sikhs-
against him and they communicted this to their higher orders
at times.

There was a village nearby called Nausheraa whose choudharee -village
head- was Sahib Rai Sandhu.

He usually left his horses -here used for gender opposite of horse-
to feed in lands/cropfields of Sikhs.

This hurted Sikhs for it was their lone livlihood.
They told Sahib Rai to keep his horses tied.

But Sahib Rai spoke insultingly saying

'mein aapneeaan ghorreeaan tuhaadde waalaan naal banoongaa'
meaning:

(i 'll tie my horses with hair of yours')

This obviously disturbed Sikhs and they reported matter to
Amar Singh and Baghel Singh of a nearby village.

Amar Singh and Baghel Singh picked horses of Sahib Rai
and sold them in market.
They -Amar Singh and Baghel Singh- put money in LANGAR
run by Bhai Taaraa Singh pind Vaan

When Sahib Rai came to know about selling of his horses
he went straight to DERAA of Bhai Taraa Singh aong with
his men. -Baghel Singh and Amar Singh were in the DERAA
at that time-

he abused Sikhs and called them names and said many a
things about Sikhs' religion.
this irked Sikhs
'Taan Sikhaan ne usnu farr ke Chahttaa Chakaayeaa'
meaning :

(then Sikhs caught hold of him and beat him blue black)

He along with his men ran away then saying he would came
back.
Sahib Rai went straight to Faujdaar -military head of
region- of Pattee.

Faujdaar came along with 2000 armed men to the DERAA
very early in the morning to take advantage of sleeping
Sikhs.

Bhai Baghel Singh was going out to releive himself.
when he heard tapping of horses coming near to him he stopped
and said loudly

'kidhar jaa rahe ho Singh naal do do hath taan karde jao'

meaning briefly:
(where are you going? fight with me)

Bhai Baghel Singh started firing from his gun.
he fought valliantly some 2000 men.
Mughal forces confused started firing at their own soldiers.
after hearing shots being fired Sikhs from DERAA came along
and ther started a fierce fight which Sikhs won by mean of their
skill.Bhai Bhaghel Singh died in this battle

after battle they sat for thinking and were sure that someday
an even larger force would come.

Faujdaar went to Subbaa -ruler- of Lahore for help
Subaa sent his force under his nephew
force had Takee Beg, Momman Khaan, and many more warriors.
force came to the DERAA

There were a few Sikhs in the DERAA at that time
Bhai Taaraa Singh told them that those who want to fight
should remain others can go home. All agreed for fighting.
fierce battle began with many warriors fighting on either
side.
Battle began with guns.
Sikhs damaged Mughal forces much and when ammunition wasn't left
Sikhs came forward with TEER KAMAAN -bow and arrow-
and when there was shotage of TEER -arrows-
they drew out swords and came forward.

Bhai Taaraa Singh drew NEJJAA -spear- and started fighting
Takee Beg came forward Bhai Taaraa Singh struck such a blow with
NEJJAA that blood came out of his mouth

Momman Khaan made fun of Takee and said
'Khaan sahib paan khaa rehe ho'
meaning:
(Khaan sahib are you eating paan)

and Takee Beg responded
'haan! Taaraa Singh paan de beedde vand rehaa hei tusee vee
agge ho ke lei lao'
meaning:
(yes!Taaraa Singh is distributing paan pieces, you go forward and
have one)

Bhai Taaraa Singh died in this battle eventually won by Sikhs.

caution:
this is not a complete account of SHAHEEHEE of Bhai Taaraa Singh.
